Hello All,
I'm coming to you tonight during a storm, a thunder and lightning storm! EEEEEEEE! I hate thunder & lightning! California girls only like sunny, fun, beach days not dreary, scary, rainy, thunder and lightning days!! This is when I know I really am a California girl!
Today was a really fun day for Gary as he met up with his 5 old friends from childhood days on Strawberry Lane. We had a long lunch (3 1/2 hours) and I will let him tell you all about it. For me it was just super fun to see my man telling old stories and having laugh after laugh with his old friends. It was a pretty cool afternoon.
Of course the water pump was leaking (I'm hoping this is the last thing to go wrong on this trip!) so the Car Whisperer had to fix that and I will also let him go on about that as I just sat in a chair next to the car while he did all the work. I did ask over and over if I could help, but by about the 5th time he told me to sit down and just look pretty. HA! I took the hint and sat down and shut up. :) He fixed it (of course!) and we took a scenic drive to his old neighborhood and Strawberry Lane. Took some pictures of the house and his Mom's old workplace Svendevco. It was fun to hear the stories and see where everyone lived. On our way home the storm hit so I'm hiding under the table in the room typing away!
Tomorrow we will go to Greenfield Village also known as Henry Ford's.. it's like a living museum and history area and I am looking forward to seeing everything that is there.
I think that is it for tonight, I'll let Gar fill ya in on all the haps from today...
See ya on the Road,
Ter  :)

"From the tool bag".....a show of hands from whoever (whomever?) has had the gasket between the water pump and the block on a small block Chevy go bad.....yeah, I thought so...I was up early to try and get the pump changed before lunch...my oldest friend Tom Ferguson lent me his carport for the repair where the faulty gaskets were found.... but it wasn't to be...no big whoop....we met at a Big Boy restaurant in Walled Lake, MI. My bestest friends showed up all at once and most of them hadn't seen each other either so it was very cool for all. We did some re-living but mostly just yacked about our lives, where we'd been and what we'd done. These guys were my closest friends for several years and it was a wonderful lunch. We're coming back to Michigan next year for the Woodward Dream Cruise and we all want to get together again. Emails/phone numbers were swapped so we can stay in touch better.

We went back to Tom's after lunch to finish the gasket swap while Tom's wife Sherry and his kids chatted with Terry. I finally got everything back together, leak free so Terry and I went to dinner and then on a nostalgia cruise through my old neighborhood, past my schools and church, places of employment...so much has changed, so much is the same....the Dunkin Donuts shop where I got my first job was still standing. It was fun to visit but I wouldn't want to go back!

It was starting to rain as I covered the car and it's pouring there now....I put several coats of varinsh on before we left so hopefully everything is protected.

Off to Greenfield Village tomorrow...haven't been there since the late 70's....a nice easy day.

  1. Hi Guys:

You asked for comments so here's my two cents worth. Only ducks and Irishmen would travel in driving rain. Get yourself a larger windshield and thus larger wipers and all will be fine. Remembering back two years ago you had lots of the wet stuff after leaving DC. Oh well.

What is it with you guys and the fast food stops? That's stuff that gets you in trouble besides I find myself drooling around the edges.

Stay dry. Assume you didn't carry a complete set of gaskets....what were you thinking?

    1. Hiya Pete!

Um, no I didn't carry those gaskets althought the parts store guy let me off when I returned the pump sans gaskets! When we go fast fooding we usually share a meal so it's only half as bad!

Rain is part of the adventure....I revarnished before I left so we shoudl be good!

      See ya soon!
